Would you like to
contribute an image?
ImageBank is an online bioscience
shared image resource which has been built entirely on image
contributions from academics, industry, research organizations
and Learned Societies. Users can
download images and use these for educational purposes only
and are required to give credit to the contributor, copyright
holder and the Centre for Bioscience ImageBank on every use
of the image(s).
Alternatively
you can post a CD or ZIP disc of images and
associated text directly to us at:

Descriptive Text
We believe one of the strengths of ImageBank
is the potential to provide associated descriptive text written
by those who have substantial knowledge of the subject matter.
We would therefore be grateful if you could supply us with descriptive
text upto 3,500 characters (eg. species name, common name, where
the photograph was taken, habitat, description of image), preferably
written in a learning and teaching context, to accompany all
images you wish to contribute.
Image format
- Images should be of good quality, preferably
large (eg. 800 pixels across).
- Images can be submitted by post
on a CD or zip in any format (eg. TIFF, JPEG, GIF).
- We would ask, however, that any images submitted
online or by e-mail should be JPEG (or GIF for drawings) to
reduce file sizes.
Copyright of Images
Copyright of images remain at all times with the
original copyright holder, usually the contributor of the image
or contributor's employer. Contributors are required to sign a
Letter of Agreement with LTSN Bioscience to confirm that the images
are theirs to contribute and that no third party (other than the
contributors employer) holds copyright to the images. The Letter
of agreement will be sent to you on receipt of the images and
prior to the images going 'live'.
Users are required to clearly acknowledge the
contributor and the Centre for Bioscience, the Higher Education
Academy, ImageBank when using an image and are also required to
agree to the terms and conditions of use.
