Shot as a wildlife documentary over several months, this 27 min film follows the lives of domestic rats after being released in a large outdoor enclosure where they have to compete, like their wild cousins, for food, shelter and mates.

British Universities Newsreel Database (BUND)

This site is a collection of cinema newreels intended for academic use. The BUND has been gathering these newsreels since 1969. The newsreel database contains over 160,000 stories which represent 21 British newsreels and cinemagazines. There are also copies of 80,000 commentary scripts, cameramans dope sheets, assignments sheets, shot lists and other original documentation of the newsreels in the database. Interesting information on the history of newsreels and how they were produced is also provided on this website. The newsreels are available through commercial and public sector film archives, commercial video releases, and over the internet as a streaming video. In order to view some of the images the user may have to register with the appropriate site.

This website has a vast amount of wildlife images and refers to itself as the Noahs Ark of the internet era. There are three chapters to search; the Globally Endangered Chapter, which contains images of the worlds endangered and protected species; the British Chapter, which features endangered and protected species from Britain and the DEFRA pilot project to aid the identification of corals. The aim of the site is to collect all the rare images and information about endangered and protected species from around the world, and create an audio-visual record of the 12,000 expected endangered species as stated by the IUCNs Red Lists of Threatened Species. There is also an area for children (Planet ARKive) and an area for teachers and parents (Education ARKive).
